Moving Up Reading 시리즈는 총 4단계의 리딩 프로그램으로 독해력 향상과 더불어 리딩 스킬을 강화하고자 하는 학생들을 대상으로 하고 있다. 과학, 사회, 역사, 문화, 최근의 이슈 등과 관련된 다양하고 흥미로운 지문들을 다루고 있으며, 이를 통해 학생들은 영어 지문을 보다 비판적으로 분석하고 이해할 수 있다.
1. Intriguing Topics: One topic Two passages
우주, 대양, 동굴, 건축, 공룡 화석, 독거미, 눈사태, 폭풍, 플루, 법의학, 트위터 혁명 등 흥미롭고 교육적인 주제를 Science와 Social Studies 라는 두 개의 카테고리에 담았다. 주제에 대한폭넓고 다양한 이해가 가능하다.
2. 10가지 핵심 Reading Skill
각 Unit에 하나의 Reading Skill을 분배하여, 해당 Skill이 잘 드러날 수 있는 글을 작성했다.
또한 Reading Skill Questions를 통해 학습 포인트를 분명히 했다. (* Main Idea, Sequence, Compare & Contrast, Cause & Effect, Writer's Purpose, Analyzing Coherence 등의 10가지핵심 Reading Skill을 다룬다.)
3. 지문과 Reading Skill을 연계한 Graphic Organizer
전체 지문에 대한 보다 쉽고 개괄적인 이해가 가능하도록, 지문의 구조를 시각적으로 도식화하거나, 문장과 어휘와의 관계를 요약, 정리하였다.
4. Check Vocabulary
주제와 관련한 주요 키워드를 복습할 수 있도록 어휘 테스트를 마련하였다.
5. Audio Recordings
영어 원어민의 자연스런 발음으로 지문을 녹음하여, 독해뿐 아니라 청취에도 도움을 줄 수 있다.
