■ Reading & Vocabulary Development Series 소개
: 『Facts & Figures』,『Thoughts & Notions』,『Cause & Effect』세 권으로 구성되어 읽기 교재의 베스트 셀러였던 Reading Practice Series의 개정판이다.『Concepts & Comments』가 추가되어 high-intermediate 수준의 학습자까지 읽기영역을 학습할 수 있도록 업그레이드 되었다.
1. 기존판은 Low Intermediate 대상이었으나 New판은 High Intermedaite를 대상으로, 2000단어의 어휘 수준을 가진 학생에게 적합하며 500단어 정도를 향상시킬 수 있다. 다른 시리즈와 마찬가지로 Reading, Vocabulary, Grammar Skill을 체계적으로 반복시킨다.
2. 주제를 바탕으로 Reading에 접근하는 방식으로, 각각의 Text는 Art, Organization, Place, Science, Technology, Health, Well-being을 소재로 한다.
3. 5개의 Unit으로 구성되어 있으며, 각 Unit은 Exercise와 Activity로 구성된 4개의 Lesson으로 되어 있다.
4. Take Note, Make Inference, Understand Cause & Effect등의 Academic Reading Skill이 Text를 통해 반복되는 New Reading Strategie를 사용한다.
5. 단어 배치, 단어 구성, 접두사/접미사 Activity를 통해 학습한 Vocabulary를 확장해 갈 수 있다.
6. 각 과의 마지막에 나오는 Grammar Exercise에서는 명사대치, 관사, 혼합명사, 전치사, 동사시제들을 연습할 수 있게 되어 있어, Text에서의 문법적으로 부족한 면을 보강해 준다.
7. 각 Lesson의 마지막에는 Writing Exercise가 들어가 있다.
8. 좀 더 Open된 환경에서 배운 내용을 확장시키기 위해 각 Lesson의 마지막마다 Interactive Task가 있어, 학생들이 New Vocabulary와 Skill을 연습할 수 있도록 해줄 것이다.
9. 각 Unit의 마지막 마다 Before You Watch, As You Watch, After You Watch로 구성된 CNN Video Highlights Activity가 있어 Unit에서 배운 내용을 복습하고 Skill을 확장할 수 있도록 해준다.

■ 3rd Edtion과의 차이점
1. 3rd Edition에서 Pre-reading Questions에서 주관식 답변을 요구하는 일반 의문문은 4th Edition에서 Before You Read - True or False question으로 변형되었다.
2. 3rd Edition에서 스케치한 일러스트레이션의 이미지들은 실제 사진들로 교체하고 일러스트레이션도 세련되게 업그레이드 시켰다.
